BRAC Sericulture (1978) - Established to engage poor rural women in income generating activity through mulberry cultivation, silkworm and seed production, reeling and spinning of silk yarn, as well as weaving and marketing silk. BRAC played a pioneering role in the development of sericulture in the country. The enterprise is currently involved in introducing high yielding varieties of mulberry trees to areas in the north, which annually suffer from Monga or seasonal famine. Learn more ...
BRAC Cold Storage (1980) - Established with the assistance of UNDP, it operates a cold storage facility in Comilla district with a capacity of 4,000 metric tons for short-term storage. Facilitates the storage of potatoes for farmers in the mid-eastern region of the country as the area yields a good harvest of potatoes but lacks adequate storage facilities. BRAC Poultry (1996) - Grew out as one of the core interventions of BRAC employment and income generating activities with an aim to increase the availability of quality chicks at a competitive price and provide supports to the poultry extension program.This enterprise now produces day-old chicks and provides advisory and analytics support to all farmers through our diagnostics and feed analytical lab. BRAC Fisheries (1998) - Supplies fish spawn, prawn post-larvae (PL), fish fry, and fingerling in response to the needs of commercial fish farms that have emerged due to a decline in wild stocks.
