Long Term Impact: Ensuring that the good work continues

Vision Bangladesh will run for four years working to eliminate blindness in Sylhet, but this does not mean that the work stops there.

This is only the first phase of a national programme. After four years and with a thorough evaluation Vision Bangladesh’s achievements and learning’s will be shared with the Government and other local partners with a view to developing a roll-out plan to other divisions of Bangladesh.

Vision Bangladesh has been specifically designed in accordance with the Government’s national eye health plan so that it can be integrated into the wider health care system.

Performance monitoring

We will use specific targets to measure the performance of the programme. They will allow us to demonstrate clearly what each has achieved.  This includes measuring against targets relating to the numbers of people screened, numbers treated, number of cataract operations performed and the number of people provided with spectacles for long- or short sightedness.   Below is a summary of four-year targets for Vision Bangladesh.
