Retrospective Method
To explore the “multiplied” approach adopted by BRAC, a large scale research is being conducted focusing particularly on microfinance and agriculture.
The research aims to explore the impact of BRAC’s microfinance and agriculture programmes separately, as well as their combined impact at the individual, household and community level.
This study is being conducted in 26 districts of Uganda covering 36 counties. A baseline and end-line survey are being conducted. The analysis will be based on a difference-indifference methodology.
The baseline survey was conducted in 2009 covering 14,000 households. The follow up survey will take place in mid-2011, to evaluate the impact of each programme, separately and combined.
