What We Do : Education

BRAC intervention is not limited to just primary schooling only. We also work with secondary schools to support government efforts in improving quality of secondary education, teaching quality and school management system.

BRAC’s highly reputed non formal primary education programme has been widely promoted by UNICEF and others as a high impact, low cost model for teaching children who had never enrolled, or had dropped out of primary school. BRAC’s Education programme is now universally recognized and is also being replicated.

In countries where BRAC operates, girl’s education and women’s rights are downright dangerous as vested interest groups want to keep the girls out of school and out of employment. Till today almost 10 million people have directly benefited from BRAC’s education programme in Bangladesh, Uganda, Afghanistan, Southern Sudan and Pakistan.

Clinton Global Initiative Commitment
In 2007 at the Clinton Global Initiative, BRAC made a commitment to raise USD 271 million to provide empowering educational opportunities for the most disadvantaged children, especially girls, on a significant scale in Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Pakistan , Uganda, and Southern Sudan.
